On August 30th, 2024, Effie successfully defended her Master’s thesis in the Collaborative Biostatistics program. Her thesis is entitled “Z-residuals for Checking Bayesian Hurdle Models”. Well done!
Effie began her academic journey in Canada during high school, earning her BSc in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University, and recently completed her MSc in Biostatistics. Throughout her time at the University of Saskatchewan, she received valuable guidance and support from Dr. Longhai Li, Dr. Cindy Feng, and Dr. Tingxuan Wu, and School of Public Health. Effie actively participated in various academic events, such as the M2PI workshop, CEFI forecasting short-course, SPH poster day, and CSSC 2024. Outside of academics, Effie enjoys exploring different cuisines, solving escape rooms with friends, and delving into media research and literary creation related to relationships between people (AKA shipping characters). Life is about balance, combining work and study with fun and relaxation. Hope everyone reading this finds joy in Saskatchewan while chasing their dreams under the magnificent northern lights.
