Trucking Along with MacKenzie in the Driving Research and Simulation Laboratory
By Tyson BrownIf you’ve been following the local news over the past two months, you might have caught a glimpse of, heard about or read about what MacKenzie McKeown is working on in the USASK Driving Research and Simulation Laboratory (DRSL). As their website states, the Driving Research and Simulation Laboratory (DRSL), directed by Dr. Alexander Crizzle, uses state-of-the-art technology to study the impact of technology, rehabilitation, and training in car and commercial motor vehicle drivers. As a PhD candidate, MacKenzie is focusing on two research projects that are close to her heart. The first of these is titled “Examining the associations between functional abilities and simulated driving performance in Canadian long-haul truck drivers”, while the second is titled: "Impact of Stakeholder Perspectives' on Improving Truck Stops in Central Canada". Both of these research projects rely heavily on input from drivers in the long haul trucking industry, so MacKenzie has been busy spreading the word in the media…. Check out the following links to find out what MacKenzie is working on, and why it’s so personally important to her.
