Congratulations Mackenzie McKeown!

The School of Public Health is pleased to announce the following successful PhD defense: Mackenzie McKeown

By Tyson Brown

On August 27th, 2025, Mackenzie successfully defended her PhD dissertation in Public Health.  Her research interests are embedded within transportation safety, occupational medicine, and public health. Mackenzie's PhD dissertation was focused on Canadian long-haul truck drivers, specifically to examine their health and wellness as it relates to their cognition, driving performance, and workplace productivity, as well as performing a needs assessment on their working environment. Her passion and motivation are built upon the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash which significantly impacted herself and her home community.  Alongside her own research, she has worked as a graduate teaching assistant for several courses in the School of Public Health (e.g., Biostatistics for Public Health, Occupational Medicine, Environmental Public Health, and Foundations of Public Health), as well as a research assistant within the Driving Research and Simulation Laboratory.
