Prestigious scholarship for PhD student

Stephanie Ortynsky, a doctoral student in the School of Public Health Vaccinology and Immunotherapeutics program, is the recipient of the 2017-18 Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship.

Awarded by the Government of Saskatchewan, the prestigious $20,000 scholarship recognizes academic excellence in a student pursuing graduate or post-graduate studies in Saskatchewan politics and government at a Saskatchewan university.

Ortynsky is returning to her PhD studies this summer fresh from a once-in-a-lifetime year-long adventure particpating in the Aga Khan Foundation Canada's Youth Fellowship Program, offered to young professionals with high potential in leadership.

As part of the program, Ortynsky completed an eight-month work placement with Aga Khan Health Services in Khorog, a town in the Central Asian country of Tajikistan.
