SPH professor awarded prestigious immunologist award

Dr. Philip Griebel, a professor in the Vaccinology and Immunotherpeutics thesis-based program at the School of Public Health (SPH), is the 2015 recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Veterinary Immunologist Award presented by the American Association of Veterinary Immunologists (AAVI).

Griebel is a prolific author of many high-impact papers in veterinary immunology, including Nature and Trends in Immunology. He is a leader in the field of vaccine research at VIDO-Intervac (Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre), housed on the U of S campus, which is one of the most successful vaccine research institutes in North America.

Griebel currently holds a Tier I (Senior) Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Neonatal Mucosal Immunology at the SPH. His research efforts in the fields of infectious disease, gut microbiome, and innate, developmental and mucosal immunity continue to lead the way in veterinary immunology research.
